The Marlboro First Aid and Rescue Squad is ALWAYS in need of volunteers.

Choosing to join a squad is a personal decision, but most people join for the satisfaction of knowing that they can make a difference in the life of another. Members stay on the squad for the friendships, the sense of community, and the fun that comes from volunteering.

Who can join?
No previous training is necessary to join. Anyone over the age of 15 can join the squad. Since riding members need to be on call for only one shift per week, we attract members from all walks of life.
What types of memberships are there?
  • Regular Members are at least 18 years of age, are licensed EMT's and have been probationary members for varying periods of time, depending upon experience.
  • Probationary Members are at least 18 years of age. They are the most recent additions to the squad and they respond to first aid calls together with at least two experienced regular members.
  • Cadet Members are between the ages of 15 and 18. They ride fewer hours per week and act as supplemental members to a crew.
  • Auxiliary Members are those who wish to help but, for whatever reason, do not want to become EMTs. They help in recruitment, fundraising, and squad functions.
What kind of training is provided?
Members receive free and convenient CPR training and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) classes, as well as continuing education courses.
How much time do I need to commit?
Members volunteer once a week, either during the day (our strongest need) or at night. Day crews are on call from 9am to 6pm and night crews from 9pm to 5am. While on call, members usually respond from the comfort of their home or from any location in Marlboro. We are flexible if you need to split your time between days. Many of our members respond while their children are in school or while they are at work within our district. Additionally, members must be on call once every 12 Sundays and once every 12 Saturdays. Cadets, our high school members, ride one 3-hour shift once a week.
What benefits do members receive?
Though the most significant benefit is the satisfaction of helping another, there are many perks to being a member of the Marlboro First Aid Squad. These include free training and equipment, community college tuition reimbursement, scholarships, and Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP) stipends. Additionally, many local businesses provide discounts for EMT volunteers.
